Our guest today on Songversations Podcast is Riley Catherall.
Riley is an Americana influenced Singer-Songwriter based in Melbourne whose graceful trajectory into the Australian Alt-Country Music world has not gone unnoticed. Working with some of the industry’s finest (Bill and Kasey Chambers) for his first EP, Venture In Vain, Riley has built a credible status as a one of the country’s most promising songwriters.
Riley appeared at the Maverick Americana Festival in Suffolk, UK where he was listed as a festival favourite alongside Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes, Chance McCoy (Old Crow Medicine Show) and Hannah Aldridge.
2020 brought a different year with many challenges, yet Riley still managed a soft release of a song for his Mum, titled Mother Please in March, followed by the first official release from the new record, a shuffling mantra for mistakes made titles Leave Me Out To Dry, which gained a tremendous amount of streaming support on Spotify, with 50k streams within the first month. The track also saw rotation on some of the country’s prime radio stations such as Triple M Country and Kix, and illustrates the young songwriter’s development, leaving much anticipation for the upcoming record, due to be released mid 2021.
Riley is set to release his debut full-length record this year, featuring singles Leave Me Out To Dry, and his newest release Vacant Lot, for which he is touring Australia in 2021.
